Unintended Consequences Part II
hms_wellington

TITLE: Unintended Consequences
CHARCTERS: John, Sherlock, Greg, Mycroft
RATING: General.
WARNINGS/KINK/CONTENT: None.
GENRE: John and Greg POV
WORDS: 1,750
CHAPTERS: 2/3 (complete)
SUMMARY: A 'Return' fic - what starts as an ordinary day for John ends with and unforseen outcome.

The law of unintended consequences - intervention in a complex system tends to create unanticipated and often undesirable outcomes

Chapter 2 of 3 No spoilers for series 3

Usual disclaimer applies - I own nothing and have just borrow the characters for a while from the Conan Doyle estate and various BBC bods.

I started this fic an absolute age ago - well Nov 2012 to be exact; then somehow Christmas - two Christmasses - got in the way!  This is my take on what could have happened at Sherlock's return, though undoubtedly Gatiss and Moffat did a much better job than I ever could. It was largely writtten before The Empty Hearse went out but last bit was finished subsequently (hate to post when a fic is half-finished).

The first bit is betaed but not the second and third. If I sent it out to my lovely betas, who are all very busy, then I might never post. Apologies for any major clangers.

SUMMARY: A 'Return' fic - what starts as an ordinary day for John ends with and unforseen outcome.

The law of unintended consequences - intervention in a complex system tends to create unanticipated and often undesirable outcomes

Chapter 1 of 2 (or 3)

No spoilers for series 3 btw

Usual disclaimer applies - I own nothing and have just borrow the characters for a while from the Conan Doyle estate and various BBC bods.

I started this fic an absolute age ago - well Nov 2012 to be exact; then somehow Christmas - two Christmasses - got in the way! I sort of liked it so wanted to finish it and tried desperately to get it completed before the current season started but failed. It has probably missed its time (if it ever had one) but posting it anyway.  This is my take on what could have happened at Sherlock's return, though undoubtedly Gatiss and Moffat did a much better job than I ever could. It was largely writtten before The Empty Hearse went out but last bit was finished subsquently (hate to post when a fic is half-finished).

The first bit is betaed but not the second and third. If I sent it out to my lovely betas, who are all very busy, then I might never post. Apologies for any major clangers.

Circling the Sun
hms_wellington
TITLE: Circling the Sun
CHARCTERS: John, Sherlock
RATING: General.
WARNINGS/KINK/CONTENT: None.
GENRE: John POV, some humour, some potentuous overtones...
WORDS: 3,413.
CHAPTERS: 1/1 (complete)
DISCLAIMER: Nothing is mine, I am afraid, and I apologies to Steve Moffat/Mark Gatiss, the BBC and the Conan Doyle Estates for borrowing all their characters for a while. I promise to keep them warm, dry, well fed and safe from harm.

SUMMARY: Ever since he was a boy, John had been obsessed with the solar system. A short, backstory piece, set in the Planetarium, after the encounter with the Golem (The Great Game). Possibly slash, if you squint very hard, as well as some blatant (or maybe not so blatant) Sherlock worship!

This fic was inspired by an orrery which I saw during a visit to the National Museum of Scotland, in Edinburgh, but a basic google image search on 'Orrery' will give you and idea of the thing I had in mind (can't work out how to attach an image here).

Partially beta'ed by the wonderful ureshiiichigo and Draugdur, but largely re-written (on their advice) so sorry for any later mistakes, which are all my fault.

Walking with Azrael - Chapter 16: Walking with Azrael.
hms_wellington
TITLE: Walking with Azrael*
CHARCTERS: John, Sherlock, Mycroft, Lestrade, Molly, Mrs Hudson and pretty much everyone.
RATING: PG-13 (some swearing)
WARNINGS/KINK/CONTENT: None except spoilers for Series 2, but has anyone NOT see it?
GENRE: Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Resilience, Smatterings of Humour
WORDS: Overall 17,633. This chapter 1,304.
CHAPTER: 16/16 (complete) See my Journal for early chapters
DISCLAIMER: Nothing is mine, I am afraid, and I apologies to Steve Moffat/Mark Gatiss, the BBC and the Conan Doyle Estates for borrowing all their characters for a while. I promise to keep them warm, dry, well fed and safe from harm.

SUMMARY: 'And this was him now, this was his life. A life deconstructed in the most brutal way, but somehow put back together.' Three years on from Sherlock's death, John has finally found peace back at Baker Street, but everything is about to change.

FINAL CHAPTER - although can be read standalone. Thanks to anyone who has followed from the start and to any new readers. I hope you enjoyed it. Any comments are really welcome.

*Azrael is often referred to as the Archangel of death (not to be confused with Azazel who also pops up later in this fic). Contrary to later portrayals as ‘the grim reaper’, he was not originally a figure of dread, but rather of comfort and salvation: teaching mortals to accept death, and consoling those grieving the loss of a loved one. Azrael is also an outcast, although not technically one of the fallen – ‘I may be on the side of the angels but don’t think for a second I am one of them’.

I owe a huge, enormous, colossal debt of thanks to my beta and friend draugdur  who has patiently read through this at least twice and offered wonderful advice and encouragement. However, anything dodgy or incorrect is all my own.

The Other Woman
hms_wellington
TITLE: The Other Woman
CHARCTERS: John, Sherlock & A. N. Other
RATING: Mature to be on the safe side.
WARNINGS/KINK/CONTENT: None.
GENRE: Sherlock POV, some angst, some hurt-comfort, some humour
WORDS: 1,304.

SUMMARY: A self-professed sociopath, he was not surprised that most people found him disengaged, emotionally distant or just damn right infuriating. However, the consensus of opinion regarding his emotive capacity was woefully inaccurate. It was not that he was incapable of expressing emotion: he simply chose not to.

She became the exception to his rule. She was his weakness, his undoing. It was intoxicating, beguiling and powerfully addictive.

Again, I owe a huge, enormous, colossal debt of thanks to my beta and friend draugdur. However, anything dodgy or incorrect is all my own.

SUMMARY: How does John put his life back together without Sherlock? He won't fall to pieces, that's just not in his nature, but how does he navigate a way forwards?
Set post Reichenbach, this tracks John's own personal 'resurrection' after the fall - his reactions, doubts and decisions - but at times it almost seems he has a guardian angel leading the way.
